Gavin was born and raised in New York City and received her training from Dick Andros, Francis Patrelle, the Pacific Northwest Ballet School and the School of American Ballet. Before joining the Oregon Ballet Theatre (OBT) , she was with Pacific Northwest Ballet and Alberta Ballet and a soloist with the Suzanne Farrell Ballet. Gavin has danced leading roles at OBT in works by George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Kent Stowell, Christopher Stowell and Christopher Wheeldon. In addition to performing, she teaches for the School of OBT. Gavin performed Dying Swan for Romantic Hearts and was the featured principal artist in Firebird.
Adrian Fry is from Omaha, Nebraska. He received his training from the Omaha Theater Ballet School, School of American Ballet, and Pacific Northwest Ballet School on full scholarships. He joined Oregon Ballet Theatre (OBT) in 2006 and was promoted to Soloist in 2008. Since joining OBT, he has performed leading roles in works by George Balanchine, Christopher Stowell, Val Caniparoli, Nicolo Fonte, Christopher Wheeldon, James Kudelka, Peter Martins, and Trey McIntyre. Adrian has danced with Ballet Victoria as a guest in the (2008) production of Carmina Burana.
Brian began his training in Southern Oregon under the direction of Sylvia Bolton, and also studied with the School of Oregon Ballet Theatre, Pacific Northwest Ballet School and Long Beach Ballet Arts Center. At OBT, he appeared in Christopher Stowell’s Swan Lake, Lar Lubovitch’s Concerto Six Twenty Two, George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker and Who Cares?, and Jerome Robbins’ Afternoon of a Faun. Brian Has danced with Ballet Victoria as a guest in Carmina Burana.
Bruce Monk is a former dancer with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet (RWB) and a graduate of the National Ballet School’s Teacher Training Program. He has choreographed dances performed by both RWB Schools and Company and is pleased to have Ballet Victoria perform his latest work. Bruce is also a gifted photographer and his work has been exhibited worldwide and is included in the permanent collection of the Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography. He is the recipient of the Hasselblad Award and has had his photography used in films such as Vanilla Sky and Two for the Money.
Born in Saskatchewan, Shawn began his dance training as a theatre major at the University of Saskatchewan. In 1989 he transitioned into a professional dance career with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Company following a three year training period with their professional school. He expanded his artistic development by joining Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montreal from 1995 until 2003. He furthered his repertoire to include works by other great 20th century choreographers – Kylian, Duato, Limon and Naharin to name a few. In addition to a constant commitment to creating new work, Mr. Hounsell has been involved with teaching and choreographing within many schools and companies in Canada and the U.S.A, as well as presenting commissioned work internationally. In 1997, Shawn was the Clifford E. Lee Choreography Award recipient.
