William Herrera - (Guest Artist) Principal Dancer

William Herrera Gutiérrez is a ballet dancer and teacher from Managua, Nicaragua. He studied and graduated as one of the best of his generation from the National Nallet School of Nicaragua. He started dancing in the Gran ballet Quezalnahuatl, a traditional Nicaraguan dance company at the age of 9. After graduating he joined the Compañía Ballet de Nicaragua where he quickly became a principal dancer. He has danced lead roles in the classical repertoire and contemporary works by Eduardo Blanco. William joined Mystic Ballet in 2013 under direction of Goran Subotic, and danced for two full seasons, performing leading classical roles as well as contemporary works by Sergei Vanaev, Gabrielle Lamb, Laura Edson and Austin Mckormick. He was invited as a guest principal dancer in several companies in central America to perform the lead Nutcracker, Carmen, Bayadere, Swan Lake. He danced in the Nutcracker production in Costa Rica under the direction of the former American Ballet Principal Wes Chapman. In 2022, he joined the Moravian Ballet Olomouc in Czech Republic directed by Jan Fousek, as soloist and where he performed leading roles in Nutcracker, Bayadere and Giselle by Michal Štipa. He also danced principal roles in the following Works: Three by Pter Zuska, Bolero by Riccardo de Nigris and Blood Wedding by Alena Peškova. William was a guest artist in several international galas in Germany, Serbia, Hungary, USA, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Panamá. This season he is joining Ballet Victoria under direction of Paul Destrooper as a principal dancer.
