Rosemarie Liscum Legacy Fund for Ballet Victoria
Hosted Endowment for Ballet Victoria with the Victoria Foundation
With the support of her family, friends, Ballet Victoria created the Rosemarie Liscum Legacy Fund in June 2021 to honour the memory of Rosemarie Liscum who passed away in Victoria, BC in April 2021.
Rosemarie was the President of the Ballet Victoria Board of Directors for many terms and was instrumental in the success and growth of the company from 2008 to 2021. Her dedication was incredible and she brought passion and life to the organization. Rosemarie was a dancer, a philanthropist and a patron of all the arts. Beyond her love of ballet, she was also passionate about her garden, cooking and baking for family and friends, traveling and ballroom dancing with her husband Mark.
Rosemarie’s life was one of service being a BC civil servant for her entire working career which included many appointments including Government House where she met Queen Elizabeth as well as personally knowing five BC Lieutenant Governors. Rosemarie found an additional way of serving the community by volunteering on the organizational teams for Visions, the Women of Distinction awards.
In her honour, Ballet Victoria will award funds to one or more deserving emerging artist(s) each season to support their development in dance. The Ballet Victoria Artistic Director will select the award(s) recipient(s) each season based on merit and present the award in Rosemarie’s name.
Each recipient will demonstrate the qualities Rosemarie was known for: passion, empathy, hard work, dedication, humour, generosity, humility and kindness.
Contribution to this Legacy Fund can be made on an ongoing basis and a tax receipt will be issued by Ballet Victoria for the full amount of the donation. The fund is hosted by the Victoria Foundation and will be held in perpetuity.
With sincere gratitude,
