Andrea Bayne - Principal Dancer
Andrea was born in Halifax NS, and grew up in Moncton NB. She is a scholarship graduate from the School of Alberta Ballet and also trained at the American Ballet Theatre School in NYC. Before joining Ballet Victoria, Andrea danced professionally with Alberta Ballet and the Banff Summer Company, where she performed various works including several of Balanchine’s iconic ballets such as Serenade, Who Cares, Divertimento #15 and Concerto Barocco. With BV, Andrea has performed as a guest artist across Canada, Japan, and performed for their Royal Highness, the Earl and Countess of Wessex. She has taken a leadership role in the development of the Ballet Victoria Conservatory as Artistic Director, and says that seeing the school blossom over the past few years is a constant inspiration. In Andrea’s 14th and farewell season, she will finish her career with her performances in BV’s version of the Nutcracker, a ballet that will always hold a special place in her heart. She feels incredible gratitude towards the audience base here in Victoria that have truly made her the artist that she is today. Andrea will dance with all of her heart for the company that she has grown to love so dearly, all of her gracious supporters, and in memory of her father who was her biggest fan forever.
